Traders send the S&P 500 to a record on busiest day of earnings season
11 of the S&P 500 components are scheduled to issue quarterly reports
4:10pm: Afternoon sees the industrials pick up steam
The Dow came roaring back from a midday dip into the red, closing 241 points higher, 0.7%, at 34,060. The Nasdaq gained 32 points, 0.2%, to 14,083, while the S&P 500 picked up 28 points, 0.7%, to hit nearly 4,212, a record.
Thursday is the biggest day of this earnings season, with 11 of the S&P 500 components scheduled to issue quarterly reports.
McDonald's Corporation (NYSE:MCD) shares gained 1.3% to $235.42 after the company reported before the bell that sales topped pre-coronavirus levels, according to CNBC and others.
