Mentz, N.Y. -- The former town supervisor of a town in Cayuga County who has been on the run from law enforcement since 1997 was arrested late last week, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
William L. Jones, 71, who was formerly the Town Supervisor of Mentz, was arrested in Ohio, deputies said. In 1996, during his tenure as town supervisor, Mentz was arrested, charged with official misconduct and spent eight months in prison.
