Varanasi: In a major boost to tourism, a new road avoiding congested areas will now be constructed to link Sarnath with Ring Road, which provides connectivity with Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport as well as all the major highways, including Varanasi-Lucknow Highway (NH-56) and Varanasi-Ghazipur Highway (NH-29). The proposed world-class road will be based on the theme of Buddhism.
A proposal to this effect is in its final stage, almost two and half years after the directives issued by Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who asked the officials to explore the possibility of developing a one-km road connecting Ring Road with Sarnath on Buddhist theme.
