Daytona Beach, FL – There’s cause for "shell-ebration" on Tuesday as the Daytona Tortugas, and America’s pastime, make their long-awaited return to Jackie Robinson Ballpark. As the Tortugas prepare to roll out the green carpet for the fans, the club gives some insight as to what baseball lovers can expect after the team’s 621-day hiatus; and there will be plenty to experience, especially since the next six games will be played at the Jack. First, at each one of their 60 scheduled home games, the Tortugas plan to honor a Tortugas Care Foundation Community All-Star and #StandWithTheJack Fan of the Game as part of their Season of Shell-ebration. Festivities kick off on Tuesday (May 11) with opening day at the Jack where fans can enjoy $2 tacos as part of Taco Tuesdays—which is done in partnership with Jimmy Hula’s—and fireworks to finish off opening day with a bang. The fun continues on Wednesday when patrons will be able to enjoy all-you-can-eat hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, and popcorn for $14, thanks to the inaugural Belly Buster Wednesday presented by Marco’s Pizza. Wednesday will also be a day of giving, as the Tortugas partner with a local non-profit organization to swell up donations and awareness for a worthy cause during Wishful Wednesday, presented by Vystar Credit Union. On Thursday, the biggest party in Central Florida returns to Minol League Baseball’s oldest ballpark as Thirsty Thursday, presented by Bud Light, gives fans a chance to beat the heat with fountain drinks and draft beers starting at as low as $1. Fans can also expect another stellar fireworks show at the close of Friday’s game too. Come Saturday, the Tortugas will honor their ballpark’s legendary namesake with their annual Jackie Robinson Day Celebration. As part of festivities and Daytona’s “Best Dressed” series, players and coaches will wear one-of-a-kind No. 9 uniforms based on what Robinson wore during his debut with the Montréal Royals on March 17, 1946. The Tortugas’ season-opening homestand will conclude on Sunday with Bark in the Park and Tiny ‘Tugas Night. The finale gets underway at 5:35 p.m. The first pitch of all weekday games are also set for 7:05 p.m. According to an email from the Tortugas, a limited number of Opening Night tickets are still available. Tickets for games Wednesday through Sunday are still available and may be purchased by visiting the team’s website or calling the team ticket office at 386-257-3172.
