Gutters were flooded and the rain was bouncing off the pavement as a storm hit Bolton.
This was the scene on Bradshawgate which was gradually getting submerged.
During the storm thousands of householders in the Harwood area suffered power cuts after lightning struck a conductor and one man in Glaisdale Close, Tonge, had a window blown out.
The fire service was inundated with calls to help deal with flooding incidents but the town’s new multi-million pound Market Hall development coped without any incidents thanks for a new drainage system which had just been completed.
