A monster storm system has torn through the South and Midwest spawning tornadoes that shredded homes and shopping centers, overturned vehicles and uprooted as people raced for shelter. There are reports of at least one dead and two dozen or more injured, some critically, in the area of Little Rock, Arkansas, where a twister caused widespread damage. Another tornado flattened homes in the eastern Arkansas town of Wynne, as unrelenting tornadoes kept moving east. There were more twisters in Iowa, damaging hail in Illinois and wind-whipped grass fires in Oklahoma. The storm system has some 85 million under threat in the South and Midwest.
