With a significant severe weather event possible in the region Tuesday, one thing is more predictable than the weather itself – the tornado chasers.
The number of people who chase tornadoes for fun or profit has grown in the past 20 years. Tornado chasing has become America’s answer to the Running of the Bulls in Spain.
Many enthusiasts who engage in the daredevil activity carry GPS instruments that light up like Christmas lights on radar weather radar images. Chasers were out in force Friday as a tornadic storm moved across North Texas. Some drive hundreds of miles for a day of chasing severe storms.
