More than a dozen Pennsylvania Army National Guard soldiers compete in the 2021 Best Warrior Competition Mar. 3-6 at Fort Indiantown Gap.
Soldiers take part in nine events, over four days, including weapons qualification, obstacle course, written exam, and military knowledge.
After running through the obstacle course Thursday afternoon the 14 competitors had to hike 12 miles, in less than three and a half hours, while each carried a 35-pound pack and rifle.
The soldiers are from Pa. National Guard units from all over the state and got to the Gap by first winning at their local company level. The top competitors go on to represent the Pennsylvania National Guard at a regional competition, and if they win that, to the National Guard Best Warrior Competition.
