During the dumpster fire that was 2020, many new parents looked to the past for baby names.
Old-timey names Eleanor and Leo made Spectrum Health’s lists of top 10 baby names of 2020, according to a news release from Spectrum Health Beat. Eleanor came in at No. 7 on the girls’ list while Leo tied at No. 9 for boys.
The last time Eleanor was in the top 10 nationally was 1918 – the year of the Spanish flu pandemic. More than 100 years a later, Eleanor is surging amid the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Leo has never made the national top 10 – its previous peak was No. 28 in 1903.
