SAN ANGELO — Governor Greg Abbott announced Monday that Tom Green County was one of 31 additional Texas counties approved for individual assistance by FEMA after a record-setting and deadly winter storm caused widespread damage across the state.
Last week, Abbott requested a major disaster declaration in Texas for "individual assistance and public assistance" from FEMA in all of its counties.
President Joe Biden on Saturday partially approved Abbott's request, declaring a major disaster in Texas and granting public assistance — emergency protective measures only — in all 254 counties, but individual assistance in only 77 counties, of which Tom Green County was initially left out.
