Frederic Raphael, the celebrated writer of the 1999 film 'Eyes Wide Shut,' has criticized actor Tom Cruise for being an "egocentric control freak" and accused him of orchestrating an incessant campaign to downplay his contributions to the movie. In a letter included in his latest book, Raphael also criticized director Stanley Kubrick's casting decisions and questioned the feasibility of casting Cruise and his then-wife Nicole Kidman as an on-screen married couple.
