Tokyo Olympics: All the Ways the 2021 Games Could Pan Out

With COVID-19 cases surging in Japan and variants spreading globally, the last few weeks have seen a seesawing of headlines about the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. On one side, polls showed that more than 80 percent of Japanese respondents believe the Games shouldn’t be held this year, and a British paper reported on sources stating that the Games would be canceled. Meanwhile, Olympic officials have stood firm that the global event will go on as planned, with athletes from 206 countries competing in front of fans.
