Britney Spears is to make a personal plea to a judge next month to be freed from her father’s conservatorship, after requesting to “address the court directly” about the long-running case.
James Spears (known as Jamie) took control of his famous daughter’s affairs in 2008 as her “conservator” - a person appointed by a court to manage an incapacitated person or minor’s financial and personal affairs. The move followed the singer’s public breakdown, with control of her estate, finances and personal life shared by her father and, until two years ago, her co-conservator lawyer Andrew Wallet.
