Tigers post five-run inning in win over Rangers

Zack Short belted a two-run homer during a five-run sixth inning and the Detroit Tigers opened their three-game series against the Texas Rangers with a 7-3 victory on Monday in Arlington, Texas.
Wily Peralta (2-1) allowed three hits with no walks and six strikeouts over seven scoreless innings for Detroit, which won its third game in a row.
Texas avoided the shutout with two outs in the ninth when Joey Gallo blasted a two-run homer off Bryan Garcia and Jonah Heim followed with his fourth homer.
The Tigers held a 1-0 lead against Rangers starter Kolby Allard (2-5) before breaking through with five runs on three hits and two errors in the sixth.
