THE Government has the support of Herefordshire Council after it decided to move the county back to Tier 2 coronavirus restrictions.
Matt Hancock said Herefordshire will move up to tier 2 from Saturday, just a week after restrictions being relaxed after a move to Tier 1.
Herefordshire Council has said it welcomeds the decision after a sharp rise in the number of cases.
"The county was placed in Tier 1 (Medium Alert) on Saturday, December 19 when the number of Covid-19 cases was low compared to other parts of the country," a Herefordshire Council spokesperson said.
"However, the latest announcement comes as the most recent data shows a sharp rise in the number of cases, in line with many other areas of England."
