On this day 12 years ago, Oklahoma rolled out new automobile license plates that were phased in on a monthly basis.
The new aluminum plate was red on white with Allan Houserâs âSacred Rain Arrowâ sculpture of Tulsaâs Gilcrease Museum.
Oklahoma was awarded âPlate of the Yearâ for best new license plate by the Automobile License Plate Collectors Association. In 2017, the current plates with the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, the state bird, came with new vehicle registrations.
