Thomasville woman charged after toddler hospitalized for ingesting medication

A Thomasville woman has been charged with child abuse after a toddler ingested prescription medication from a pill bottle she allowed him to play with, according to law enforcement.
Shanna Marie Allred, 19, of 187 Holliman St., Thomasville, was charged with felony negligent child abuse causing serious bodily injury.
According to information on the arrest warrant provided by the Davidson County Magistrates office, on Feb. 22 Allred allegedly allowed her toddler son to play with a full prescription bottle containing seizure medication and while neglecting to provide supervision, he opened the bottle and ingested a substantial amount of the medication, causing hospitalization.
