We’ve had some much-needed rain this week. Waters around the region have been well below normal for this time of year. They’ll remain low for this weekend however, and the US Drought Monitor is reporting the entire Adirondack region as abnormally dry. We’ll need considerably more rain to see water levels return to more normal levels.
The rain has knocked down the fire danger, but extended the Mud Season Advisory. DEC recommends sticking to elevations below about 2,500 feet until trails have a chance to dry out. Summit temperatures are expected to be mostly in the 60s this weekend, so that should help.
