Some people go into a profession out of necessity. One of those is Lt. Gen. Bruce Carlson, a Brainerd grad who was one of four inducted into the Distinguished Achievement Hall of Fame last night. Looking for financial help when he headed for college, he was told to check out ROTC. He did, and today is a top-ranking officer at the Pentagon.
30 years ago (1991)
Now that Brainerd has cut ties with the county attorney and will hire its own attorney to prosecute misdemeanors, Baxter and Nisswa will meet with them to explore a cooperative effort. John Person, who is city attorney for both Baxter and Nisswa, says based on history there is no question Baxter would come out ahead with the plan.
