A THIEF who caused thousands of pounds of damage attempting to steal lead from the roof of a church has been jailed.
Lee Moulsdale attempted to take flashing from Holy Trinity Church on Market Gate in the town centre in the early hours of August 1 last year.
In doing so, he caused a total of £6,502.20 of damage to the grade two-listed building.
The 40-year-old was initially spared jail at Warrington Magistrates Court in October 2020 after admitting attempted theft and criminal damage, instead being handed a three-week imprisonment suspended for a year.
