On Tuesday, the Boundary Commission published its draft proposals, following a ten-week public consultation held last year.
It is proposing that there should be 18 wards, each with one to three councillors per ward, in place of the current 16 three-councillor wards.
All wards will change under the proposals, except Billinge and Seneley Green.
Key changes
A big change will be the creation of new Peasley Cross and Fingerpost ward, comprising the eastern section of the existing Town Centre ward.
It is also proposing to split the Sutton ward into North and South, each represented by two councillors, and to change the boundaries.
