Theater Notebook: San Diego Musical Theatre, Welk and OnStage Playhouse announce return of live shows

San Diego Musical Theatre will get back to live entertainment at the Horton Grand Theatre in August with four weekends of concert dates by musical tribute acts from around the country.
“Piano Men: Generations” will take place Aug. 6 and 7. Father-and-son pianist-singers Terry and Nick Davies perform a tribute show chronicling four decades of music by Billy Joel and Elton John.
ABBAFAB, a tribute act to the 1970s-'80s Swedish pop act ABBA, will play Aug. 13 and 14. “Not Fade Away: Rock ‘n’ Roll Reignited,” a tribute act that features Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper, runs Aug. 20 and 21. And “Britain’s Finest: The Complete Beatles Experience” will take place Aug. 27 and 28.
