The startup powering pandemic food deliveries explains the rise of ghost kitchens
We’ve all found a new delivery favourite during the pandemic. But is your new favourite restaurant… real?
“We’ve seen a lot of restaurants developing virtual brands.”
Today we speak with Jerome Laredo and Noah Hayes of Deliverect, a Belgian-founded company with operations across Europe and North America. Deliverect also has some strong Canadian connections, featuring a bunch of ex-Lightpseeders as part of the founding team, and investment capital from OMERS Ventures (the company just raised a $65 million Series C round).
Deliverect sits in the centre of a triangle surrounded by delivery services, restaurants, and point-of-sale (PoS) providers. With more than 30 million orders processed in the last year, few companies have a better understanding of how the way we eat food has changed during the pandemic.
