The Staffordshire Hoard

The Staffordshire Hoard is the largest haul of Anglo-Saxon gold ever found, and when it was unearthed last year up in the Midlands, it was hailed as a major find, revolutionising theories about technology in England in AD 600-700.
It’s interesting, but the exhibition in the British Museum fails to convey the significance of the discovery, and the collection isn’t spectacular enough to fascinate anyone who doesn’t know the backstory.
