The question of MSP: Is income support for farmers better than pricing that is delinked from market demand?

Madhya Pradesh and Haryana have demonstrated the feasibility of guaranteeing MSP on crops other than rice, wheat and sugarcane. A nationwide scheme of price deficiency payments with 50% Central funding could incentivise other states to follow their example.
