Police personnel inspecting buried bodies found at Mahadev Ghat on the banks of river Ganga in Chausa village, Buxar, May 11 (PTI)
As many as 71 dead, bloated bodies were fished out of the Ganges at Chausa Ghat in Bihar’s Buxar district on the night of May 10. These bodies, which doctors have identified as being four to five days old, have triggered panic among the residents of the district since there is a strong possibility that these nameless, faceless bodies could be of unaccounted Covid victims. Their presence has inevitably created a sense of fear as the virus can be contagious even when present in a corpse.
