'I finished college at 19, and from the province, I moved to Manila where I became homeless until I was adopted at 23 in exchange for tutoring my adoptive family's children. Soon after I became a Benedictine monk, I eventually rose to the position of director for services at San Beda College Alabang. Fourteen years ago, I found myself contemplating a life outside the monastery's walls.'
