The Fiji Emergency Medical Assistance Team (FEMAT) field hospital in Lautoka is for non-COVID emergency care.
In a statement yesterday, the Health Ministry said any patient who came to the field hospital would be seen, except those who showed COVID-19 like symptoms.
The ministry said this was being done to avoid mixing infected and non-infected patients.
The Lautoka Hospital has been designated exclusively for COVID-19 patients.
The ministry said the field hospital would treat acute cases, accidents, maternity care and other non-elective surgeries.
However, deliveries would be done onboard the MV Veivueti and at the Viseisei Sai Health Centre.
