Approximately 93 per cent of businesses in Fiji have experienced a decline in revenue because of COVID-19.
This, according to a Pacific Trade Invest Network survey conducted this year involving 157 businesses across 16 Pacific Island countries, as highlighted in the 2020 Biennial Pacific Sustainable Development report.
The report indicated a need for dramatic actions to protect the economies of developing countries.
“Unless dramatic action is taken to protect the economies of developing countries and address social disruption, the COVID-19 pandemic could set the fight against poverty back by a decade and in some Pacific Island countries by as much as 30 years,” the report stated.
