One of the lessons of 2020 is that we’re better together. This was the year of collective action, of joining forces while maintaining social distancing in order to get things done in fashion, and beyond. The industry lost some of its star players this year, talents who revolutionized retail, pushed design forward, supported rising talent, and made the world a richer place. They will be missed.

Pierre Cardin, Futurist Designer and Businessman, 98
Always forward-thinking and ever active, Pierre Cardin was hard at work on a new cultural center when he died. On the design front Cardin is best remembered for his Space Age looks for men and women. Futurism informed his furniture and product designs, as well. An avid and acute businessman, he was way ahead of the curve when it came to ready-to-wear and licensing, which are the engines that drive the fashion industry today.
