News: As the Centers for Disease Control recently released new guidelines for reopening schools, several school districts in the area are moving to phased-in, in-person learning or are considering it. School officials say mitigation strategies, such as mask-wearing and hand-washing, have worked this year in schools, but they will continue to monitor the health data and build flexibility into their plans to shift to a different learning model if COVID-19 cases climb. Some districts, however, are still assessing the situation and face issues, such as costs and the need for more space in their facilities. Meanwhile, the Connecticut Education Association is calling for educators to be vaccinated now.
