CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Not to put too much value on a single move, but I think there are two players who are clearly the best option at a position of need for the Browns, and I’m not sure the Browns can truly win free agency without getting one of them next week.
At edge rusher, there are multiple options, at least seven real choices that could make sense financially and who would help immediately while starting at defensive end opposite Myles Garrett. At linebacker, the sure-thing impact options are so sparse, I think the best plan for landing a three-down starter at linebacker is with the Browns’ first-round pick at No. 26, and they should plan that way and realize a major linebacker isn’t a must in free agency.
