Farmers' markets have exploded in popularity over the past decade: pretty much every major neighbourhood, from Clapham to Clapton, now has one. Take a socially distanced stroll among the stalls to eye up honey made on a local rooftop, organic greens, wild game and freshly baked Neapolitan pizzas. Everything will have been produced or sourced by the person you’re buying it from, so the whole process has far more traceability – plus the relatively shorter distances the markets’ wares will have travelled means a lower carbon footprint, as well as a reduction in wasteful plastic packaging. At their best, London’s farmers’ markets are vibrant community hubs and champions of independent businesses. Here’s where to find them.
