The American Israelite inaugurates a new tradition of thanking Cincinnatians for their service to the Jewish community. As 2020 closes, we are pleased to name people of the year Michael Oestreicher, J. David Rosenberg, William Kahn, Robert Weil and Pam Saeks.
Oestreicher and Rosenberg, whose retirement as trustees of the Jewish Foundation was announced last week, participated in the Jewish Hospital Sale. We thank them for their years of service â more than a decade each on the Jewish Foundation Board â to the Cincinnati Jewish community.
We also honor Weil, the retiring head of Weil Kahn Funeral Home, and Kahn, his successor, for providing burial services in accordance with Jewish sacred law and traditions (Halakhah). The continuation of availability of halakhic Jewish burial in Cincinnati is a sine qua non for many members of the community and a service for which thanks are owed.
