The terrifying moment a pool of whaler sharks took over a popular beach - forcing officials to close off the beach to the public - has been captured on drone footage.
The Surf Life Saving drone spotted about 40 sharks on the NSW north coast at Evans Head during a routine aerial surveillance of the popular holiday spot around 11.30am on Wednesday.
Swimmers and surfers were escorted from the beach when the school of spinner, dusky and bull sharks were spotted.
