Looking northwards with State Highway 1 and Vine St on the left and the area on the right which the Temuka Community Board wants developed and made more visually appealing.
Efforts are being made to lure travellers off an “uninviting” section of State Highway 1 and into Temuka’s town centre.
Currently, according to the Temuka Community Board, travellers on State Highway 1/Vine St drive were not getting a positive impression of the town as the bypass road went between the saleyards and the rear of buildings fronting the main street, King St.
Board chairman Paddy O’Reilly said in a submission to the Timaru District Council’s draft Long Term Plan, written on behalf of the board, that the stretch of highway along this route was dotted with yellow lines along both the sides of Vine St and “uninviting.”
