SPENCER — A teen driver and his passenger were seriously injured in a crash on Main Street early Saturday morning.
The crash, at the intersection of Main and Maple streets left the 2021 Mazda SUV badly damaged after it struck a heavy metal pole from which the traffic signals are suspended, Police Chief David B. Darrin said.
The pole held fast and the vehicle sustained heavy damage to the front end, Darrin said.
The incident happened at around 3:35 a.m. and police arrived to find both teens unconscious and suffering from serious injuries, Darrin said. Officers at the scene said the pair were trapped in the SUV though police were able to free them.
