A teenager who was caught carrying an AK-47 in New York's Times Square was confused about the city's gun laws, his lawyer has claimed.
Manhattan Judge Melissa Jackson rejected the argument on Sunday and refused to grant the teen bail, which prosecutors requested be set at $25,000.
Saadiq Teague, 18, from Ohio, was arrested while carrying the AK-47 on the mezzanine level of the A, C and E subway station on April 16.
