Police identified the 17-year-old Eugene teen Wednesday evening.
Four passengers, between 15 and 18 years old, suffered "various levels" of injuries and were transported to a local hospital, Eugene police spokeswoman Melinda McLaughlin said Tuesday.
The Register-Guard is not identifying the passengers because they are minors and victims in an accident.
Emergency personnel responded to the crash near the intersection of Patterson Street and East 23rd Avenue a little after 6 p.m. Truax was declared deceased shortly after officers arrived, McLaughlin said.
Speed and "impairment by inhalants" are being investigated as contributing factors to the crash, she added.
The Eugene Police Department's Major Collision Investigation team is investigating the crash. Eugene police have not released any other information regarding the details of the crash.
