Teen charged in six armed robberies, rape in Ohio City escaped state-run hospital, officials say

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 17-year-old boy accused of committing several armed robberies and a rape in Ohio City escaped a state-run hospital on Saturday.
U.S Marshals and the Ohio State Highway Patrol are searching for Lavelle Spencer, 17, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. Spencer escaped about 6 p.m. Saturday from Warrensville Developmental Center in Highland Hills. A warrant was issued for his arrest on Monday, according to court records.
Authorities have not said how he escaped. Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. Ray Santiago later confirmed the escape. He refused to say how the teen escaped or release any other information, citing an on-going investigation.
