It's been over a week since the Metro experienced severe storms that caused extensive damage to the area's trees. Still, one organization is helping clear debris that remains.Hazel Greene, 68, said she was home babysitting when the storm's hurricane-grade winds blew into Omaha. A decades-old tree next door fell into her property, blocking her driveway and garage.I'm grateful it didn't touch the house," Greene said. "That was a blessing." Greene said her godson cut out a path for her to walk under the fallen tree, but she had no way to move it."I just come outside to look at it and I'd say 'Why?'" Greene said.Greene made a phone call early Monday morning to Team Rubicon. The disaster relief program is responding to dozens of calls around the city to break down trees. Lauren Kasper and her team bounced around Omaha cutting and moving branches and logs on Monday."Today, it's been a lot of just sawyer work and debris pick up," Kasper said. "We've had our chainsaw team out today, and we've been cutting large tree limbs." Kasper said she and other volunteers are ready to do the work."We got to be ready to get our hands dirty, which we always are," said Kasper.Kasper said she feels fulfilled to provide relief for her neighbors."There are a lot of disabled persons as well as elderly folks that can just not do this by themselves, and so we've gotten a lot of praise and thanks from those individuals," Kasper said.Greene said she's thankful the tree and stress are gone. "I'm just so grateful that these guys came because I didn't know what I was going to do," Greene said.
