Our Reporter Dimapur, Sep. 5 (EMN): Director General of Prisons, Home Guards & Civil Defense and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Rupin Sharma, on Monday said teaching is a profession which facilitates generational changes. The senior police officer was addressing the first Chümoukedima district-level Teachers’ Day celebration, jointly organised by department of School Education and All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association, as guest of honour at CTC hall Chümoukedima. Sharma said everyone is born out of flesh and “it is the teacher and education which makes who we are.” “If it is not for the basic qualities of inquisitiveness and innovation of teaching all of us would be an animal by instinct,” he said. He said skill upgrade is required for teachers as everyday is a process of learning and that the teachers are impacting a huge number of students. He said if teachers do not discharge their service properly, then they would be doing a huge disservice to the society. Sharma also said that Naga society, students in particular, lacks in quality of discussion and discourse, as the environment in the school is strictly controlled.
