The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has decided not to contest the upcoming November 30 Assembly elections in Telangana. This is due to party national president and ex-Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu still in prison over corruption charges in the ‘Skill Development scam’. The TDP is also on a sticky wicket as far as alliances are concerned. Though it has formally joined hands with the Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena Party (JSP) in Andhra, the JSP is in seat-sharing talks with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana as it is still part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
