Tallahassee teacher charged with sexual assault of minor

A teacher at Bethel Christian Academy was arrested last week on charges he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old runaway girl he solicited through a text message app in February, court records show. 
Denzel Bonner, 30, was charged with sexual assault of a minor, use of a two-way device to facilitate a felony and engaging in prostitution. He was arrested on a warrant on April 13.
Bonner, of Tallahassee, is physical education and health instructor at the preK-5 school, which is a ministry of Tallahassee's Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. 
He has also worked in various afterschool programs in the Leon County Schools system. An LCS spokesman said Bonner worked in the afterschool program at Hartsfield Elementary for two years before leaving in March 2020.
