Sweet, sexy, Starstruck: Critics agree Rose Matafeo is 'destined for big things'

The romcom had risen to the top of the BBC iPlayer “New & Trending” section by Monday, having been widely praised by critics as a breath of fresh air in the normally sickly realm of romantic comedy.

The Telegraph arts editor, Anita Singh, said Matafeo’s “goofy” acting and Snedden’s “smart” writing combined to make a timeless story. The story doesn’t shy away from sex – the plot starts with a one-night stand – but Sing said it was well scripted.
