COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. – Construction continues on the new Susquehanna SPCA shelter in Cooperstown, as crews continue to make progress on the new building.
Design Learned Inc., out of Connecticut, is spearheading the design process. The company has handled engineering and interior design for hundreds of animal care facilities and veterinary hospitals nationwide.
"The building is designed as a group of smaller areas each of which has its own unique HVAC system and has its own noise control separation,” said Scott Learned, of Design Learned Inc. “So, for example, dogs that are in one of the kennel zones cannot smell, hear or see dogs that are in another zone. All of these animals are segregated by their age, temperament, condition as well as specials, so cats don't smell dogs, dogs don't smell cats."
