LANSING – A man who reportedly sped away from police after they tried to to stop him on a weapons matter surrendered peacefully following a standoff in a west Lansing neighborhood on Monday afternoon.
The incident began about 2:18 p.m. when Lansing officers and Michigan State Police troopers tried to stop a driver at Washington and Oakland avenues, Lansing police said.
The driver ran his car into a trooper's vehicle and sped off, touching off a pursuit that ended when the suspect's vehicle crashed on West Ottawa Street, near Westmoreland Street, on the city's west side, police said.
