BIRMINGHAM – The man charged with capital murder in the death of Kimberly Police officer Nick O’Rear, was sentenced in an unrelated federal case.
A federal judge sentenced Preston Chyenne Johnson, 38, to 200 months in prison, announced U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Special Agent in Charge Mickey French.
Johnson pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm in January. Johnson, who was prohibited from having a firearm because of prior felony convictions, unlawfully possessed an Anderson AM-15 5.56mm rifle on October 31, 2019.
Kimberly Police Officer Nick O’Rear was shot and killed on Feb. 4, 2020.
