The Stop & Shop supermarket on Cherry Valley Road in West Hempstead remained a crime scene Wednesday, one day after an employee opened fire, killing one person and wounding two others.
31-year-old Gabriel Dewitt Wilson, who authorities say has a history of mental illness, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon and appeared in court Wednesday morning.
Wilson was arraigned on one count of 2nd degree murder and four counts of attempted murder.
He was remanded and will appear again on Friday. He faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
