A Florida man who allegedly led police on a suspected drunken chase that left one deputy dead was charged Thursday morning with felony murder.
The Pinellas County Fire Department found Robert Allen Holzaepfel, 33, asleep behind the wheel of his truck at a red light in Tarpon Springs Wednesday evening and decided to break the window to help him, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said during a press conference.
When Holzaepfel woke up to the cracking glass, he sped off, leading deputies on a chase through the residential area.
